Sept 17th Chaumont sur Loire

After seeing the great Chenonceau, we somehow found our way to Chaumont, another fabulous castle. The interesting thing with this place is, when Henri II died, he left Chenonceau to Diane, his mistress, who somehow ended up here in Chaumont for a short while...well it turns out Diane didn't end up staying at Chaumont and found her way back to Chenonceau...However, WE really liked Chaumont.
Chaumont is smaller, graceful, and very castle-like and equiped with a horse stable that says, these horses are royalty!
We were practically the only ones there and able to enjoy seeing all the rooms at our leisure. We were able to hear the stairs creak when stepping along the narrow spiral staircase and able to get a sense of the rooms when standing in the center to admire the larger than life wall tapestries hung above beds to keep the rooms warm.
The views from most rooms were inviting, breathtaking, and magical!
The courtyard was open and filled with lovely summer flowers, resisting the call of fall, and blooming brightly for the clouds above.
Chaumont spells out 'realisticly-fairy tale' in all of its nooks, corners, and staircases and we both were under a delicious spell when visiting the interior of this small palace.
We also visited the adjoining horses stable and we were blown away! Each horse had his/her name printed above the stable, had seperate eating quarters, special places to train, get freshened up, and get ready for travel. One room housed a huge variety of horse paraphenalia (I'm not a horse person but here goes): work horse harnesesses, bits, whips, saddles, and other horse attires with emblems of the family crest! These must of been the cleanest and nicest looking horses ever!

Anyhoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo it's now 2200 and we are suppose to watch a funny french movie. We've had our pizza and wine and we will soon be moving onto dessert (HA!I'll be ready to pose for the European woman of the 17th century look alike contest, as I will soon be voluptuously doooooughy from all of this bread and cheese!).

ONce again, here are the pictures.

Merci Mom pour ton message...c'est tres gentil et un gros bonjour encore...bisouxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx DD
